What is Independence Companion?

An Independence Companion is a trained professional whose primary mission is to help older adults remain active, engaged, and independent by removing the barriers that prevent them from participating in everyday life.

Their success is measured not by the tasks they perform, but by the life the client continues to live.

An Independence Companion doesn't take over your life. They help you continue living it.

Who can benefit from this?

An Independence Companion is not primarily for someone who needs extensive hands-on personal care.

They're for someone who says:

"I'm still doing pretty well... I just don't do as much anymore."

Or:

"I don't drive anymore."

"I don't like going places alone."

"My daughter worries about me."

"I miss getting out."

These are people at risk of becoming isolated, not necessarily people who need bathing or dressing assistance.

An Independence Companion is designed for older adults who are largely independent but would benefit from encouragement, companionship, and support to remain active and engaged.

Their mission is to help clients continue living life on their own terms by removing the barriers that prevent them from participating in everyday activities.

Services may include:

• Social outings and community events

• Coffee, lunch, and companionship

• Grocery shopping together

• Transportation and accompaniment to appointments

• Walking and wellness activities

• Museums, concerts, and hobbies

• Running errands together

An Independence Companion focuses on helping clients stay active, connected, and independent while enjoying the activities they love.
