Traveling Through Europe with Seniors
6/2/20261 min read

I recently returned from a trip through Puglia, Mykonos, and Paris, and it reminded me of something I often tell families: growing older does not mean giving up the joy of travel.
As I explored each destination, I found myself looking at everything through the eyes of a senior traveler or someone using a wheelchair. Could they navigate the streets? Would transportation be easy? How difficult would it be to enjoy the experience comfortably?
Paris was by far the most accessible. Airport assistance was excellent, and many attractions were easy to access. Puglia was absolutely beautiful, but the historic towns, cobblestone streets, and uneven pathways required a bit more planning. Mykonos was stunning, but also the most challenging, with steep hills, narrow walkways, and plenty of stairs.
What stood out to me most was that accessibility is not just about ramps and elevators. It’s about having the confidence and support to keep living life fully. Sometimes that means traveling with family. Other times, it may mean having a caregiver available to provide assistance, allowing everyone to focus on making memories instead of worrying about logistics.
The truth is that many seniors stop traveling long before they need to. With the right planning, accommodations, and support, there is still a big world out there waiting to be explored.
Whether it’s a trip to Europe, a family cruise, or simply visiting grandchildren across the country, age should never be the reason we stop seeking new experiences. Some of life’s most meaningful adventures can happen well into our later years.
